Bertell Ollman's essay 'Dialectics and Progress' was presented at the November, 2003, Rethinking Marxism Conference at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and was videotaped by David Siar for Cultural Logic. The editors wish to thank Bertell Ollman, along with David Ruccio and the organizers of the conference, for permission to tape this lecture.

Bertell Ollman, a professor of politics at New York University, is the author of Dance of the Dialectic: Steps in Marx's Method, Dialectical Investigations, Alienation: Marx's Concept of Man in Capitalist Society, Social and Sexual Revolution: Essays on Marx and Reich, and other books.
